Course Overview
Never invest in something you don't understand. This course is an overview of both what crypto assets are and why they *may* be worthy additions to your portfolio depending on your risk tolerance, goals/values, and willingness to do the extra setup and security measures required. You'll be able to use this foundational knowledge to understand how this emerging technology continues to change over time. In addition to going over crypto assets as an independent "investment class," we'll dive into a technical overview of the world's two biggest crypto assets: Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). These have already evolved significantly and interact with many other layers of a larger crypto and traditional finance ecosystem. Case studies will show how these crypto assets are used in practice and what companies/business models were born from them. We'll tackle questions such as: *What is a blockchain and how is it different than but related to cryptocurrency? *What do technical terms such as distributed, cryptographic, and immutable mean in the context of crypto assets? *How do I buy crypto assets and what are my options for securing them? *How much of my portfolio should I dedicate to crypto assets if I think they are a good fit for me? *Are crypto assets bad for the environment?
