Why I started a22
Most people move through their working lives without knowing how to invest or manage risk, making them less secure and less wealthy. Not only does this produce needless suffering, it puts unnecessary distance between you and your goals.

Founding a22 was a direct response to the frustration I felt on my own decade+ journey to gain the skills necessary to make financial plans I could trust. Too many of the books/blogs I read, courses I took, and advisors I employed were patronizing, made lazy assumptions, distorted data to fit their purposes, or couldn't explain the details of their calculations/models. It became clear that in order to feel confident in my financial future, I needed to uplevel my abilities, customize everything to fit my own circumstances, and build from first principles.

I created a22 to teach busy people practical finance in a time-efficient and effective way so you don't have to spend 10+ years piecing it all together like I did. You gain knowledge of how to smartly deploy your money and take meaningful steps towards a better financial life in a matter of weeks.
On my journey as a student of practical finance, too many of the courses I took were high level, didn't easily translate into action, or gave cookie-cutter advice. a22 takes the opposite approach. We go into details and tradeoffs. We focus on understanding, applicability and suitability. We want you to know how to do the calculations, what they mean, and how to change parameters to fit your situation. Basically, we want to teach you the art of planning, the science of statistics, and how to adapt when life circumstances inevitably change.
We help you create a personalized plan through our live, small-group courses and one-on-one programs. All of this happens once a week over Zoom to make it as convenient and cost-effective as possible for students.

While one can learn how to build financial security without a22, we make it simple, structured and efficient. Our curriculum focuses on helping you understanding the financial underpinnings of a topic, like retirement, in 3 to 6 classes. You gain a deep and nuanced understanding of financial concepts with an emphasis on how to apply them to your situation today and in future.

Alexis' Story​

I earned an undergraduate degree in Economics from Wellesley College in Massachusetts. After working as a research assistant and programmer for an Economics professor, I pivoted to a career in tech.
When I started working at Google, the large gap between what I learned about investing and risk in an academic setting and how to apply those concepts in real life became painfully evident.
I turned to colleagues for advice and was genuinely shocked at how little many of them knew about how to utilize company benefits like 401ks, stock options, restricted stock units, life insurance, and health savings accounts. These were smart and educated people, yet they were still confused.
This led me on a decade+ personal finance education journey. I helped friends, family and colleagues fill in their money knowledge gaps. Seeing how this materially improved their lives encouraged me to start a22 Financial Education and support even more people on quests to achieve financial well-being.
